Community Grants

AAUW Laguna Beach Foundation distributes grants up to $1000 that address needs related to AAUW’s mission, which is to promote equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. Applications are accepted each year between March 15 and April 30.

In 2011, the Laguna Beach branch has selected the following community programs to receive Grants totaling $5,250.

LB Lifeguard Tower

  • Boys and Girls Club — Even-Start Preschool program
  • Helping Hands Worldwide — Transportation of food and supplies for low income locals
  • La Playa Center — Books and supplies for ESL program
  • LB Community Clinic — Women’s Health Day
  • Laguna Beach Live! — Artist fees for a First Sundays concert featuring young female musicians
  • Woman's Club of Laguna Beac h — Back-to-School Project; school supplies for low income families
  • Sally’s Fund — Social assistance to elderly women
  • Seed Business Network — Resources and online services for people with disabilities

Eligibility

Applicants must be from local community-based nonprofit organizations. Grant requests must relate to the education and needs of women and girls, or provide information to educate and benefit the public on these issues.

The 2012 grant schedule will be announced at a future date.

Grant Recipient Reporting

Grant recipients are required to submit an evaluative report documenting outcomes achieved through this funding. 2011 grant recipients must respond by April 1, 2012.
