Community Grants

AAUW Laguna Beach Foundation distributes grants up to $1000 that address needs related to AAUW’s mission, which is to promote equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. Applications are accepted each year between March 15 and April 30. Members of the AAUW Laguna Beach Branch work through its Foundation to empower women and girls by providing education and enrichment opportunities to enable them to reach their full potential

In 2010, the Laguna Beach branch made financial contributions totaling $5,000 through Community Grants to the following community programs:

LB Lifeguard Tower

  • LB Community Clinic — Women’s Health Day
  • Laguna Beach Live! — Concert tickets for young women
    considering" a music career
  • Boys and Girls Club — Even-Start Preschool program
  • No Square Theater — "The 19th Amendment" music recording
  • Sally’s Fund — Transportation services for the elderly
  • La Playa — Books for ESL program
  • Helping Hands Worldwide — Transportation for low income locals
  • Human Options — Assistance to battered women

 

Eligibility

Applicants must be from local community-based nonprofit organizations. Grant requests must relate to the education and needs of women and girls, or provide information to educate and benefit the public on these issues.

Grant Recipient Reporting Requirements

Grant recipients are required to submit an evaluative report documenting outcomes achieved through this funding. 2010 grant recipients must reply by April 1, 2012.
